In terms of high-profile transfers, it seems as though, we are experiencing the most exciting day of this year’s transfer window yet. In this sense, four confirmed moves have drawn particular interest today.
In Germany, Bayern Munich have confirmed the purchase of Shakhtar Donezk winger Douglas Costa for a fee of €30 million, as was reported by us a few days ago. The Brazilian receives a five-year contract and will be wearing the No. 11 shirt. It is not too surprising as to how excited Costa is about this move, claiming that joining the German giants is a dream come true. At Bayern, he will be competing with the likes of Ribery and Robben for a place on the wing.
In Spain, the transfer of Colombian striker Jackson Martinez from Porto to Atletico Madrid has now been confirmed. Atletico will be paying €35 million for the services of the prolific forward, who will be a like-for-like replacement for Mario Mandzukic who recently joined Italian champions Juventus.
Porto on the other hand, have confirmed the signing of talented French midfielder Giannelli Imbula for a fee of €20 million, although the player had looked certain to join Spanish side Valencia, after deciding to leave French giants Olympique Marseille.
In England, Liverpool have now officially confirmed what had looked like a certainty all along, by announcing the transfer of Nathaniel Clyne for €17.7 million from Southampton. The right back and England international will certainly add quality to Liverpool’s squad and might turn out to be a much better player than Glen Johnson who has recently departed the club.
Today has turned into a blockbuster day for transfers and the summer might just continue to excite us, should similar transfers be announced in the next few days.
