Argentinian forward Gonzalo Higuain has turned down his club Napoli’s contract extension offer. The 27-year old had been in talks with club president Aurelio de Laurentiis for the past fortnight and has now revealed that the contract offer did not differ too much from the terms of the current agreement which is set to run until 2018.
Higuain is a fans’ favourite at Napoli and it would be surprising if the club did not improve their initial offer in the coming weeks. The Argentinian joined Napoli from Real Madrid for a fee of €37 million in 2013. He has since gone on to score 53 goals, whilst providing 23 assists in 104 games.
Here are some of Higuain’s highlights from last season.
