According to some reports coming out of Spain, Barcelona’s 28-year old winger Pedro is set to sign for Manchester United after the Spanish Super Cup. It is believed that both clubs have agreed an initial fee of €26 million, plus potential add-ons of €6 million, although personal terms have yet to be discussed.
Pedro has only ever played for Barcelona and, since his senior debut in 2008, has accumulated 318 appearances, with 98 goals and 63 assists to his name. The tricky winger was limited to only 2,219 minutes on the pitch last year and had been increasingly frustrated with his role at the club. Nevertheless, a look at his statistics from last season suggests that United are due to get a player that will further improve the quality of the squad. For the more visual ones amongst us, a look more animated look at his performances from last season can be seen here.
As for the shape of Louis van Gaal’s squad, Pedro’s transfer might mean the departure of United’s very own youngster Adnan Januzaj, who looks set to be loaned out, with Premier League side Sunderland amongst the parties believed to be interested.
